HRC recently designed SMART’s Oakland Terminal electric bus charging station. HRC worked with the bus manufacturer to determine equipment sizes and create plans and specifications for the charging station, then Bid documents were prepared in cooperation with SMART’s procurement team.
Our professional team of electrical engineers reviewed available power capacity within the building, and coordinated with DTE Energy to ensure the utility could fully support the fast-charging equipment. HRC prepared a layout for parking spaces and designed the necessary electrical infrastructure.
J. Ranck Electric was awarded the contract for project construction and HRC provided the construction engineering services associated with installation. Our engineers reviewed all contractor product submittals, supported contractor requests for information, provided onsite construction observation, and helped finalize the project.
This direct current (DC) fast charging station now provides SMART with the ability to charge their initial fleet of four fully electric buses.
