Senior Construction Observer
Delhi Twp. Office
Responsibilities:
- Conduct field visits to jobsites to observe and evaluate construction work
- Oversee and perform general and advanced construction and field observation on various projects
- Coordinate and oversee material testing according to prescribed procedures on soil, concrete, bituminous and aggregate materials
- Perform field quality assurance operations for construction projects
- Monitor performance of contractors and have the ability to interpret drawings
- Complete detailed construction reports
- Monitor construction schedule
- Monitoring construction activities for compliance with contract documents, recording of quantities for project estimates, completion of daily reports and related documents
- Interfacing with general public and community officials
Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
- Knowledge of MDOT construction specifications
- Past experience on MDOT-related construction projects
- Minimum 3 years relative experience
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans and specifications
- Strong math skills
- Familiarity with MDOT FieldBook software preferred
- Basic computer skills are required
- Applicants must pass a pre-employment physical and substance abuse test
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to travel throughout SW Michigan
