The City of Marysville Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) was initially constructed in 1953, and subsequently expanded in the early 1970s. In 2008, a Notice of Violation was issued based on the WWTP’s annual flow exceeding its design capacity. HRC assisted the City by developing a three-part strategy to address the Notice, as follows: 1) WWTP upgrade and expansion, 2) storage of excess wet weather flows and 3) collection system rehabilitation/maintenance. The WWTP upgrades and expansion work was divided into two phases to allow immediate operational concerns to be addressed while continuing to evaluate alternatives for long-term compliance, as well as to consider various financing options.
